Join us for an insightful Film + Talk event during Hoodoo Heritage Month, where we’ll delve into the rich world of African Traditional Religions (ATRs), focusing on Ifa-Isese and Lucumi, and how they differ from Haitian Vodou. This event will feature a series of short films that explore these spiritual practices across the African diaspora.

  • Iwa Pele Pt 1 (8 min): A documentary exploring Ifa and Santeria from the Diaspora, taking us on a journey from Miami to Africa.

  • Iwa Pele Pt 2 (11 min): Continuing the exploration from Africa to Brazil, this film examines Candomblé and its connection to Babalorisa.

  • Meet the Vodou Priestess Summoning Healing Spirits in Post-Earthquake Haiti (15 min): A compelling look at a Vodou priestess’s work in Haiti, offering insight into the healing practices of Vodou after the earthquake.
